Catastrophe Data Analyst

​Atlanta, GA or Hartford, CT​


This position will leverage data management and risk management skills to assist IFG Companies in the evaluation and management of property and liability catastrophe risk. The position will be responsible for developing building, validating, and maintaining catastrophe exposure data; evaluating the catastrophe risk profile of individual property accounts; assisting in the evaluation and development of portfolio catastrophe risk management reports and assisting when needed on other risk management activities. The position will work closely and will provide support for property underwriters within IFG Companies' Property units.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Validate the quality and integrity of property exposure data and perform pre-processing modeling activities; including data consistency checks, geocoding, etc.  Identify and automate workflows so as to build a unified, consistent data collection mart.

  • Work with IFG Companies’ technology group to ensure data uniformity within the catastrophe risk modeling and rate making processes.

  • Support requests from underwriters to assess, evaluate and price catastrophe risk through the use of catastrophe risk model results.

  • Perform account and portfolio level catastrophe risk model runs.

  • Plan and organize information with problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Effectively communicate catastrophe risk data issue with Enterprise Risk Management and Underwriting teams.

  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of IFG Companies’ risk limits.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, economics, or finance from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and SQL.


Physical Demands

  • Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion.  This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone.
